DESCRIPTION
This 50th anniversary timepiece pays tribute to the “Silver Snoopy Award” that OMEG received from NASA astronauts in 1970 in recognition of the brand’s contributions to space exploration, including the Apollo 13 mission.
The 42 mm stainless steel case is presented on a blue nylon fabric strap featuring the Apollo 13 mission trajectory embossed on the lining. The silver dial features blue PVD hour markers and angled hands, and a silver Snoopy medallion embossed on the blue subdial at 9 o’clock.
On the NAIAD LOCK caseback, a view of the far side of the Moon has been decorated on the sapphire crystal using a microstructured metallization process. An animated Snoopy in his Command and Service Module (CSM) appears on a magic hand, which rotates when the chronograph function is activated. Behind it, an Earth disc rotates once per minute in tune with the watch’s small seconds hand.
In addition to the black engravings on the caseback that pay tribute to the Apollo 13 mission and OMEG Silver Snoopy Award, the watch also features a blue ceramic [ZrO2] bezel with a white enamel tachymeter scale. The non-limited timepiece is powered by the OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer calibre 3861 and is delivered in a special presentation box.

Snoopy in orbit
On the caseback, Snoopy appears on the Service Module (CSM) as a magic hand. When the chronograph is activated, it travels towards the Moon, decorated on the sapphire crystal. An Earth disc also rotates once per minute, synchronized with the small seconds hand.

Our attention to detail is evident in everything we do. The silver dial of our 50th anniversary “Silver Snoopy Award” watch is a shining example. With finely curved baton hands, angular hour markers and an embossed Snoopy counter at 9 o’clock, we’ve accomplished our mission of taking every component to the highest level of quality. This is our rigorous approach. This is OMEG precision.

316L stainless steel is OMEG preferred material for watches, offering beauty, strength and value for money. Its high corrosion resistance and polished lustre make it ideal for everyday watches and demanding environments such as diving and adventure.

OMEG has unique expertise in ceramics, an inorganic material treated at high temperatures, which has been used for over 10 years. Ceramic pieces are dense and have exceptional mechanical properties. Popular with customers, ceramics are lightweight (twice as light as stainless steel), scratch-resistant, chemically inert, hypoallergenic, environmentally friendly and non-magnetic, and come in a wide range of colors.

OMEG uses synthetic sapphire crystal with scratch-resistant and anti-reflective treatment to enhance the details of its watches. Produced using the Verneuil process, which involves melting with an oxygen/hydrogen flame, the crystal reaches a grade 9 on the Mohs hardness scale, making it virtually scratch-proof and ensuring excellent visibility.

The legacy of comics
For more than half a century, Snoopy has been the “watchdog” of NASA’s safety program. In addition to representing the overall success of missions, he is also able to keep the environment light in more serious situations. Since 1968, the Silver Snoopy Award has been given to individuals or companies that have contributed significantly to the “success of human space missions.”

“I took two OMEG into space. One with mission elapsed time and the other with Houston time.”
